Acclaimed “B-movie” writer, performer, and medical professional Geraldine Winters initiates a one of a kind film project. The idea originated from a combination of Ms. Winter’s own eerie zombie experiences. At the same time that she was waiting to audition for a part of NBC’s now defunct zombie series “Babylon Fields,” she was called to medical duty by the federal government. Her service required her to report to a government “P.O.D.” in the event of an “incident.” An actress in the midst of pages about the living dead, Ms Winters couldn’t help but find the eerie coincidence inspiring.

Zombies go back to school

Warren Zide (American Pie) is bringing to life The Harvard Zombie Massacre, buying up the comedy-horror spec script by newcomers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, says Variety.

Zide will produce through his Parallel Zide with Ryan Lewis executive producing. Shooting is planned for early next year.

3-D Zombies

George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead will be “dimensionalized” to stereoscopic 3-D for a planned theatrical release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

New Amsterdam Entertainment has tapped the 3-D company In-Three, which will use its proprietary “dimensionalization” process to turn the 1978 independent horror movie into 3-D. The project is expected to be completed within the year.

Dance of the Dead lands distribution partner

After getting rave reviews from attendees of the South By Southwest Film Festival last March, the horror-comedy “Dance of the Dead” is headed for a theater near you thanks to a freshly signed distribution deal.

Lionsgate and Sam Raimi’s Ghost House have signed on to distribute the film.

Dance of the Dead is the hilarious, blood-drenched adventure of several high school students from different social cliques banding together to save their town from the living dead. Reviews have compared the film to the works of both John Carpenter and John Hughes.

When a secret government agency lets out a deadly chemo virus causing the reanimation of the dead, the first place to get hit is Rhino’s, a hot underground strip club.
