Why is it that there is no contact info for the people who run this website? The only way for a 'regular' person to say anything .. is to "comment" on an exisiting post .. and that does not work if what you want to say has nothing to do with the original comment.

To all of you who entered and lost . . . too bad suckas! Better luck next time. I'd like to dedicate my win to Stacy, the un-dead girl i have chained to the tv and who is currently watching this disc in heavy rotation as she slowly decomposes. It's not necrophilia if they're "undead"!

PS - P.W.Boles. I look forward to the day you get what's coming to you (i.e a good slap in the teeth).

PPS - To my canadian fans - keep working on the golf swing.

Later Jerks!

Just downloaded the demo and gave it a shot. It's pretty short. 2-3 minutes short. In fact I pretty much ran through it twice in 5 minutes because I had accidentally skipped a dialog scene. Too easy to do that in the demo. You fight a total of three enemies that don't seem to do any harm to your character and offer negligible challenge. I understand it's a demo of a small company's work, but there's a difference between a beta/tech demo and a teaser/release demo. Since the game is out, I expect a working demo, where the corpse dropped in the middle of a room gets hit doesn't stand up and remain standing. This would be okay if the corpse then started attacking or something because it was a risen zombie, but no, that's not the case. Just one of a number of blights on the demo. There are limitations to what smaller game designers can do. That's understandable, but I've seen what modders can do with full release games. I've seen what independent teams can do when they make their own engine (<a href="http://frictionalgames.com/penumbra">Penumbra anyone?</a>) they've created from scratch. Those are good examples of what can and should be done with a game demo.

Cry of the Infected Demo falls short and doesn't offer much hope for the full game.

In short, it doesn't impress me enough to spend $4.00 on buying the game. For that matter, I do have issue with the price. My typical requirement for a game is 1 hour of entertainment for $1.00 spent. From console and PC games from big developers I have the same standard. If I spend $60.00 on a game, I expect at least 60 hours of entertainment. This can also include replayablitly. Cry of the infected offers 1-2 hours of entertainment. With the reply and "special ending" I'd manage between 2-3.5 hours of fun (since I would have knowledge on where to go and such the second run around). $4.00 is a good price for a game, but makes sure it's worth that much when you sell it.

In short, what would improve this game based on the demo and make me want to buy it:

1) Give us a little length, or a little challenge. Spending 2-3 minutes clawing some guy, watching my character get angry, then killing another pair of guys that don't seem to do anything to me is well, very vanilla. I want a slight challenge in the demo so that I know the game is going to offer me something exciting.

2) Fix the demo so that everything works. If there are bugs in a released game's demo, I'm not going to expect the full game to be bug free. For a 2 hour single player game, I'm going to want to experience a bug free environment. If this was advertised as a beta client or tech demo for the game, these bugs could be excused and expected but instead this is marked as being ripped straight out of the game. It doesn't fit well this way.

3) Offer enough length to the game to make it worth my $4.00. I could be giving that money to some of my favorite internet podcasts and have twice as many hours of entertainment per month. I don't expect a life sucking game that will keep me playing for endless hours, but I want to know my $4.00 was well spent.

4) Give us some story interests in the demo. Something to bite on that really sparks interest in the game's plot. We know many of the stories and fiction behind zombies so talking about the typical zombie stuff isn't going to wow us like new content will.

Shesh, I spent three times as much time writing this review than I spent playing the demo.
